KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Generated well over $1B in net present value for Intel. Drove innovative analytical and decision making methodologies, developing and licensing new tools to deliver high quality key strategic decisions. The Intel Architecture Group, which makes up more than $48B of Intel’s $54B+ in revenue, is required to run all key strategic decision through this decision quality focused framework.
Built two startups at Intel, growing one from 3 to 225 employees. As a key member of Intel Capital’s New Business Investments (Intel’s business incubator), evaluated business proposals, provided leadership and identified and drove new opportunities in low power graphics, low power chipsets and biological detection (1st patent issued related to molecule detection).
Led product development from ideation to implementation. Led team to drive graphics technology (DVD quality video and console quality gaming) into handheld form factors. Spearheaded one of Intel’s top initiatives resulting in a major Intel product line, developing extremely low-power chipsets, building the organization and achieving significant design wins and volumes.
Multiplied sales 10-fold for start-up call center solutions company. Developed and executed innovative growth plan for Sundial Technologies. Built marketing programs, sales organization, and service group. Increased sales from $300K per year to $300K per month. Grew to #2 in its niche. Negotiated LOI for public offering at $30M valuation and purchase agreement with industry leader to combine and take public.
Founded digital animation company, growing it into an attractive acquisition. Launched garage start-up, pioneering animation for industrial and litigation support and web development/e-commerce in 1992. Sold company, remaining with acquirer’s group of companies as president and negotiated LOI for IPO. Partnered with BellSouth to rollout web services across South Florida.
Key player in software company’s successful IPO. Collaborated with boutique VC firm in Boston in evaluating business plans. Helped achieve successful IPO for Ottawa based software company.

Improved strategic planning, decision-making and portfolio management by introducing Decision Quality framework and Efficient Frontier portfolio management rigor.
· Managed a small team of decision professionals focused on facilitating, supporting and ensuring quality on very high value strategic decisions.
· Introduced decision training for finance and planning.

Director of Big Ideas – Ultramobility Group 2007 – 2008
Crafted game-changing ideas, creating robust pipeline of new concepts and proposed radical changes in strategic direction, driving ideas forward and challenging business models.
· Led effort to develop the world’s smallest and most dense server blades and stand-alone servers, delivering high revenue, density and performance at substantially lower power.
· Proposed repartitioning the components of the PC system that resulted in higher profitability for Intel. Plan included winning approval of licensing for third party silicon suppliers to incorporate low value IP traditionally included in the chipset in key segments. Enabled creation of smaller chipsets that consumed less power and delivered greater margin.
· Longstanding member of TED community. Introduced Intel to TED’s new management, facilitating sponsorship and represented the company for the last 11 years at the invitation-only Conference where the “world’s leading thinkers and doers gather to find inspiration,” interfacing with industry leaders on diverse subjects and business models and contributing entrepreneurial perspective.
General Manager – Low Power Chipset Group 2004 – 2007
P&L responsibility for $50M operating / $5M capital budgets while managing 200+ in developing lower power chipset product offerings for Ultra-Mobility product line across multiple sites and functional boundaries.
· Built lower power chipset (which became Intel’s Atom Platform), resulting in substantial design wins, with one-third the team typically required for development and less than half the usual budget.
· Raised initial $30M in capital from New Business Initiatives Group (internal venture arm / incubator of Intel Capital).
· Founded group and assembled nimble, top-notch team of 183 in 18 months.
· Protected mainstream mobile roadmap from emerging competitors with product that delivers 80% of functionality of mainstream part at 20% of power dissipation and with substantially smaller form factor.
General Manager – Handheld Graphics Operation 2001 – 2005
Explored applications for handheld gaming using Intel’s X-Scale processor and identified emerging opportunity in handheld multimedia (3D graphics / high quality video). Managed $15M operating budget and team of 8 direct/38 indirect reports, overseeing marketing, engineering, operations, business development, finance, and administration.
· Won divisional award for entrepreneurship for success in building graphics chip with an extremely small team, spawning industry-wide race to integrate 3D capabilities and positioning Intel strongly with major design wins.
· Founded Handheld Graphics Operation to develop and market hardware companion chip to XScale (low power Intel microprocessors) for low power devices to deliver high-end graphic and media decode capabilities and drive capability into Intel’s application and communication processors.
· Made business case and raised $5M in first round funding and total of $37M from Intel Capital’s New Business Initiatives group to develop business, build chip, and bring first product to market (250K produced in last 9 months).
· Led development and launch of Intel’s first low power graphics chip for handheld devices (Intel 2700G).
· Achieved design wins at Dell, IBM, Casio, and Samsung, and drove customer and vendor engagements in China, Taiwan, Korea, Europe, and U.S.
· Drove efforts that turned Intel into a pivotal player in low power graphics. Crafted multi-million dollar deal with third party IP provider, Imagination Technologies (Intel owns 15% stake in the industry leading graphics provider) and is now a key component to Intel’s low power IA and Digital Home products.
· Negotiated broad licensing with Imagination Technologies’ low-power graphics core.

Recruited to manage business development for Internet Tablet Operation. Demonstrated strategic thinking, identifying lucrative business opportunities.
· Developed key relationships and structured content agreements to populate Intel’s Web Tablet, signing 18 deals in 16 months including: Disney, Barnes & Noble, Yahoo, Amazon, CNET, and Viacom.
